Power for Weakness

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

Read Isaiah 40:29, NLT

You don’t have to be unemployed for long before you discover how powerless you really are. You can’t make people call you back; you can’t make positions open; you can’t even figure out where to look for your next job. You’re not in control of anything. But the truth is, you have never been in control and you never will be. It takes a while for to understand that there is no security in the world’s economy and those who place their trust in it are sure to be disappointed. So much for harsh reality about the systems of this world. Be grateful that you are no longer fooled into the false security offered by the Enemy. In the Kingdom of God, where you can choose to abide, everything is secure so surrender the reins of your life and future completely to God. Take Him up on His offer of power and strength. You will never get a better offer than that in the workplace.
WORDS OF FAITH:I am connected to the Power source for the whole universe and He makes me strong.

By faith I receive God’s power to carry me where I am weak. I am complete in Christ, lacking nothing.

I receive God’s strength and power in every aspect of my life.

Things to Enjoy

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

Read 1 Timothy 6:17, NIV

You might not find it encouraging when you hear that the systems of this world are failing.  News of the crumbling economy and dismal employment statistics might even be keeping you up at night.  But, as a precious child of God and citizen in His economy, you don’t have to feel that way.  You don’t even have to give the world’s situation a second thought, because it has no hold on you. Read this scripture again and ask the Holy Spirit to give you a full revelation of its meaning.  The uncertain riches of this world cannot bring you peace of mind or confidence for the future. Nothing in this world can do that. But by the grace of the living God you have something that is truly trustworthy and so much better.  He stands in eternity, with His eye on your future and provides everything you will ever need for a great life. Rest in that.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• My God is the Ruler over all and He loves to give me wonderful gifts.

• By faith I receive all the things that God gives me to enjoy.  I expect to live abundantly.

• My confidence is in God as my provider.  I don’t place any trust in the systems of this world.

Say Baaah

“So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness

to give you the Kingdom.

Read Luke 12:32, NLT

Many scriptures refer to believers as “sheep.”  There’s nothing too appealing about these smelly, stupid animals but that’s not the point of the comparison. This metaphor is a very effective way to show the relationship between God and those who believe in Him.  There’s no more powerful or enduring an image than a loving shepherd keeping watch over his well-cared-for flock.  Furthermore, it might serve us “sheep” well to know a few things. One: we’re in a war zone with an enemy we can’t see but He can.  Two: we don’t have a good understanding of the situation but He does.  Three: compared to the supernatural power made available to us by Christ, our worldly skills and abilities are as inferior as those of a common sheep compared to the skilled and vigilant shepherd.  So, accept that being a sheep is fine, just as long as you can stay very close to the Shepherd!  Don’t forget that for even one moment of your job search.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I believe that it gives God happiness to bless me with every good thing.

• I refuse to receive a spirit of fear.  I recognize fear as a strategy of the enemy and I rebuke it.

• By faith I receive the blessing Jesus bought for me at Calvary.

Pay Back

“You have taken my silver and gold and all my precious treasures…But I will bring them back … and I will pay you back for everything you have done.

Read Joel 3:5-7, NLT

When you’re in a job search process and nothing seems to be happening, it’s easy to think God has forgotten you.  Every time you hear that there are no openings, or they just filled the position, or they would never hire anyone without certain skills, you may feel yourself losing heart.  But if God ever did something for one His children, He can do it for you; He’s no respecter of persons and He doesn’t play favorites.  He will bring you back from the situation the world put you in and see to it that you are fully cared for.  He also promises to deal with those who caused you harm as surely as Jesus dealt with the Enemy of our souls! So keep fighting the good fight of  faith to overcome doubt, fatigue, confusion and frustration.  You have not been abandoned; God is not unaware of your situation. The Good Shepherd will never rest until He brings you safely home!

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I cannot fail.  I belong to the Most High God.

• By faith I receive that God will deal with my enemies and restore me to wholeness.

• God is more angry at those who try to do me harm than I am.  He is my daddy and He isn’t going to allow His child to be harmed.

Send Me!

Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people?

Who will go for us?”  I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Read Isaiah 6:8, NLT

After all this time, God is still asking the question, “Who will be my messenger?  Who can I send?” and He’s hoping that you will jump up, waving your hands, and say, “Me, me, please send me!”  You know, this has nothing to do with being employed or successful in the eyes of the world.  This is simply a matter of having a willing heart.  Will you forget about your needs and your employment and financial situation and consider the world of hurting people out there in desperate need of Jesus?  Are you willing to be God’s messenger today?  No matter where you go and how you plan to spend your time, be His spokesperson.  What work could you do that is more important than keeping lost souls from perishing by sharing the gospel every chance you get? Work that into your job search and watch what happens.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I am a messenger for God in this dark and hurting world.

• Wherever I go today I ask the Holy Spirit to reveal opportunities to share the good news with the people I meet.

• By faith I accept my assignment to represent the Kingdom of God and to walk in His favor.

Don’t Waver

Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled

as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.

Read James 1:6, NLT

Faith is a job seeker’s secret weapon… faith in God alone, that is.  Choosing a life of faith in Christ is making a decision that will lead to success.  Many believe in God, even the demons believe in Him, so obviously belief is not enough.  You have to take the full measure of faith that you’ve been given and plant it in your heart.  Stake your faith in God and His promises and do not move from that position for any reason.  Then your faith in Jesus and His finished work of triumph will do your fighting for you.  If you are willing to trust God to take care of you for all eternity, surely you can put your faith in Him to meet your present needs and manage a job search for you in this life.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I know that my security and confidence is in God alone.

• My loyalty is not divided and my mind is made up.  I trust in God.

• By faith I choose to ignore my circumstances and keep my gaze fixed on “things above”.

You Are Light

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

Read Matthew 5:14, NLT

This world economy is in a mess and with every day it becomes more evident that no government or world leader is going to be able to fix it.  World systems are failing.  Built on greed, selfishness and pride, they can never produce long-term prosperity, peace or security.  But God has given all those things to His children, in abundance, in His Kingdom that has no end.  His blessing makes us rich without any sorrow or negative consequence. You may not yet have the full manifestation of His promises in your life, but they are still true.  You will, by faith in Christ and obedience to God’s will, see the abundant life procured for you, in this lifetime.  So shine like a city on the hill lighting up the darkness of night.  Behaving like one lit up by the love of Christ!  Get on fire for the Lord now, and everywhere you go in your job search, let your light shine.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I belong to the awesome, unshakable Kingdom of God.

• The Holy Spirit in me reveals ways that I can be a light in this dark world and I act on them .

• I declare the truth of God’s goodness and I expect to see true prosperity manifest in my life.

Never Too Hard

Is anything too hard for the LORD?

Read Genesis 18:14, NLT

Whenever something big or overwhelming comes against us, we simply have to read this scripture.  It’s hard not to experience comfort and assurance by reading miracle stories in the bible; times when God split the Red Sea wide open, or held back the river Jordan.  How about the walls of Jericho crumbling, or the blinding of an entire army so the prophet could lead them into the city of Samaria without force?  One of my personal favorites is the army that ran away when they heard a scary sound and left jewelry, food and every supply for the three lepers to find.  Get that, the army even left jewelry for the people of God! The message is simple–God is capable of whatever we need.  Settle this in your mind once and for all.  When asking the question, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” the answer will always be “No, nothing.”  The next challenge will be to develop the faith to believe that God will do something this wonderful for me.  But for right now, let’s just agree that He is able.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I have unshakable faith that God is able to do all things.  Nothing is too hard for Him.

• By faith I receive what God has promised me.  I am expecting great things.

• I know that God has a destiny for me and the world economy can’t keep me from it.

In the Light

…always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance

that belongs to His people, who live in the light.

Read Colossians 1:12, NLT

If God never did another thing for you, wouldn’t you still be blessed?  You have life, health, opportunities, and the ability to think and  work.  You have love, the promise of eternal life with Jesus, forgiveness from sin, hope, and all the promises of God’s Word.  Right now, you are seated in Christ at the right hand of God.  The Holy Spirit of God has taken up residence inside you to be your personal teacher and comforter. Doesn’t all this merit your thanks, praise and worship?  You live in the light while the rest of the world suffers darkness.  Before you head out today to do whatever you are called to do, stop and give thanks for all that has been freely given to you, remembering that Jesus paid with His life to give you this inheritance.

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I give continuous thanks to God for blessing me.

• By faith I receive my inheritance in Christ and call for every blessing in the name of Jesus.

• I thank God that I am in His Kingdom and walk as one who lives in the light.

KNOCK

They Marveled

… perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled.

And they realized that they had been with Jesus.”

Read Acts 4:13, NLT

Who wouldn’t choose to walk in confidence and speak with boldness?  But that’s really difficult to maintain when you’ve been without work for awhile.  People start to comment on your inability to get a job.  They question your efforts, your persistence, your commitment, and your qualifications.  In the face of accusations and, even condemnation, it’s tough to be bold. But these uneducated, untrained disciples were bold. Because they had been with Jesus.  That’s our solution too. Spend time with Him. Bask in His love before you go anywhere. You need an infusion of Christ every day of the job search to stay bold and confident.  Go ahead, let people marvel at you too!

WORDS OF FAITH:

• I have been with Jesus and my confidence is unshakable.

• By faith I receive revelation of Christ in me and I am bold.

• I will not be discouraged by what others say; my God has equipped me for success.
