Supplement Your Faith

Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and … knowledge, and … self-control, and … patient endurance, and …godliness, and… brotherly affection, and …love for everyone.

Read 2 Peter 1:5-7, NLT

Are you really making every effort to supplement your faith with powerful habits and godly thinking?  Peter tells us that it’s our responsibility to try our very best to be morally excellent.  We should constantly work at increasing our knowledge of the Kingdom. Ours is the job of developing self control, with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in us. As for building patient endurance—there’s something few of us truly aspire to.  We want things immediately, microwave style.  Then we’re told that we’re called to demonstrating brotherly affection and having love in our hearts for everyone.  Notice that not one of these things requires you to be employed in order to develop or demonstrate it.  We can be working on them every day of the job search.  This is the effort that builds our Christ-likeness and grows our faith, so give your energy to the effort.

• I am willing to grow in character and the likeness of Jesus.

• By faith I receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to help me to develop day-by-day.

• With the help of the Holy Spirit I am becoming the person I was designed to be.
